1. MedInfo2010

a] Thanks, round-up

Medinfo2010 is over. For many of us, after all the lead-up, it undoubtedly went by far too fast. IMIA would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to all who were involved in making the event - the first African Medinfo - a great success. IMIA would like, in particular, to thank all the members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Lyn Hanmer and Brenda Faye, for all their hard work and dedication, leading up to, and during the event. Working with the LOC to ensure the success of the event were the staff of The Conference Company, to whom we also express our sincere thanks and appreciation for all their hard work.

As Medinfos are IMIA's premier scientific event, we also express our thanks and appreciation to the members of the Scientific Programme Committee, chaired by Riccardo Bellazzi and Johanna Westbrook; the Editorial Committee, lead by Charles Safran; Tutorial Chair Heather Strachan and Student Paper Competition Chair Dominik Aronsky; and all others who had an active role in working together, and with the LOC, to ensure the success of the event and its many associated activities, meetings, etc.

Finally, we would like to thank all those who attended Medinfo2010 and made it such a memorable event.

b] Medinfo feedback request

IMIA is continually seeking to improve Medinfo events. We therefore invite your feedback on any aspects of Medinfo2010 - in particular, as we look to Medinfo2013, and beyond to the new biennial Medinfos, we would like any suggestions on how to further improve the scientific content, delivery, structure, etc. of future Medinfos.  All comments can be sent to: medinfo@imia-services.org

c] Continuing discussions on Medinfo2010 themes and issues

Medinfo-AMIA bridge http://grou.ps/medinfo2amia2010
This collaborative space has been refocused following Medinfo2010, and is now is dedicated to exploring themes in international informatics in the context of the Medinfo2010 and AMIA2010 conferences. From 27 September to 24 October, 2010, there will be two moderated discussions. The first, on Global Approaches to Using Informatics to Support Quality and Safety, will run from Monday 27 Sept. to Sunday, 10 October. The second, on mHealth, will run from Monday 11 October to Sunday 24 October.

If you wish to participate in these discussions, you can sign up for an account through the about URL. Issues from these discussions, and summaries of Medinfo2010, will contribute to sessions at AMIA2010, and we will be then exploring future collaborations/explorations of the issues. This initiative is being lead by Gil Kuperman, AMIA2010 SPC Chair.

You can also continue discussions at:
