Book Objectives
The current growth of Internet and communication technologies has
given a new dimension to health care system. Using high speed
communication networks, physicians are now able to remotely monitor
patients and were able to perform some diagnosis also. But, health
care industry is very sensitive to communication technology as quality
of service and delay constrains are paramount in this field. As the
research in communication has matured in recent years, now the health
care industry is moving to another level and is ready to accept
Information Technology (IT) as one of its driving tool. Due to recent
advances in IT, more and more applications are focusing on providing
better communication tools and applications to both physicals and
patients. Recent RFID and sensor technologies are also helping
monitoring and diagnosis of patients. Health informatics deals with
all information and records related to health care management. More
and more countries are implanting health care inf!
ormatics and are investing in this area for better health of their
population. This will not only help them manage public health a better
way, but also reduces the cost of manually handling records, patient
x-rays so and so forth. Health informatics has wide are of
applications and if used properly can benefit world population for
better health.

Researchers are kindly invited to submit a 2-3 page proposal to Editor
of the series Dr. Naveen Chilamkurti (n.chilamkurti@latrobe.edu.au)
before 17th April 2011. The manuscript proposal should clearly
explain the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter. Upon
acceptance of your proposal, you should prepare your chapter of
8,000-10,000 words. Guidelines for preparing your paper and terms and
definitions will be sent to you upon acceptance of your proposal.
Due dates
Proposal for chapters: 17th April 2011
Acceptance of Chapters notification: 22nd May 2011
Final Chapter submission: Mid of August 2011
