CAP STS Will Help Sponsor 2011 State Healthcare IT Connect Summit

Meet with CAP STS at the 2011 State Healthcare IT Connect Summit, June 21-23, 2011, in Dulles, Va. At the summit, policymakers and leading health IT strategists will provide critical insights into state health IT's function at the intersection of HITECH and health reform. CAP STS Will Help Sponsor CHITREC LOINC® Event
The Chicago Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (CHITREC) will host a Laboratory LOINC Workshop, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., May 26, 2011, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Prentice Women's Hospital, in Chicago. The event will educate users about the use and utility of LOINC codes. Chicago area health care IT professionals are encouraged to attend. CAP STS, the CHITREC terminology partner, will help sponsor the event. CHITREC is a public-private partnership that brings together leading health care and information technology experts from health care organizations, academia, industry, and government and is focused on providing resources to promote Meaningful Use of health IT across all of Chicago.

Lab Interoperability Cooperative Now Recruiting Hospital Laboratories

The Lab Interoperability Cooperative (LIC) is recruiting hospitals to participate in a program that will electronically connect hospital laboratories with public health agencies. Establishing this connection will enable hundreds of hospitals to engage in electronic reporting that helps public health officials act more rapidly and efficiently to control disease. Application is open to all U.S. hospitals, including critical access hospitals located in rural parts of the United States. Hospitals interested in participating in this project may register online.

The LIC, a grant funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is an initiative which includes participation from the College of American Pathologists, the American Hospital Association, and Surescripts. The SNOMED CT International Release—January 2011 Spanish Edition is now available for download. Since 2007, CAP STS has served as the support organization for the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO®), owners of SNOMED CT. CAP STS currently updates and maintains SNOMED CT to represent current clinical knowledge. CAP STS offers also a wide spectrum of technical, consultative, and education services for the optimal implementation, customization, and integration of SNOMED CT into your health information systems. The CAP electronic Cancer Checklists (CAP eCC)—the XML version of the updated CAP Cancer Checklists—are available for licensing and downloading. Sign up for the SNOMED CT Introductory Class on June 21-22, 2011, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time. The two-day program, presented on site at the CAP STS training facility in Deerfield, Ill., is a hands-on, interactive learning experience that provides in-depth information about SNOMED CT.
