Next bulletin IMPORTANT DEADLINE DATES October 15, 2011 - HELINA2011 Submission Deadline (see item 5) November 20, 2011 - Deadline for WHO Bulletin submissions (see item 1) 1. Call for Papers, Bulletin of the World Health Organization - Open Call Ends 20 November, 2011 We remind all IMIA members that the Open Call for submissions to a Special Theme Issue of the WHO Bulletin, under the Editorial and Call titled "Establishing an evidence base for e-health: a call for papers", closes on 20 November, 2011. We ask that readers cascade the information to their colleagues and contacts and encourage submission. Call for Papers: IMIA President Antoine Geissbuhler and Najeeb Al Shorbaji (WHO Department of Knowledge Management and Sharing) have published an Editorial and Call for Papers in the current (June 2011) edition of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization. Titled "Establishing an evidence base for e-health: a call for papers", the editorial is an open call for contributions to a Special Theme Issue of the Bulletin. The Editorial/Call can be found at http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/89/6/en/index.html (HTML version) or downloadable PDF file at http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/89/6/11-090274.pdf This is part of a joint project between IMIA and, among others, a range of US government agencies (including PEPFAR, CDC, and USAID), IDRC, as well as the Global Health Informatics Partnership (GHIP). Author teams have been developed for a number of specific review papers and regionally-based papers are being developed through the work of IMIA's Regions. The objectives of the theme issue of the Bulletin are [1] to provide an authoritative, critical and independent overview of knowledge about the appropriate, transdisciplinary methods and applications in e-health; [2] to include contributors from developing countries who typically do not have the opportunity to publish in international journals; and [3] to disseminate the key findings of this theme issue to high-level decision-makers, to promote a stronger commitment on e-health interoperability issues and its wider application. Manuscripts should respect the Guidelines for contributors and mention this call for papers in a covering letter. NOTE: All submissions will go through the Bulletin’s peer review process. Please submit to: http://submit.bwho.org 2. NI2012 Nursing Informatics Conference - Montreal, Canada in June 2012 NI2012, the 11th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, will be held in Montreal, Canada on 23-27 June, 2012. The Call for Submissions is now closed. Full information on the event is available on the website at http://www.ni2012.org An Exhibitor Prospectus is available - see http://wp.me/pvCUS-Tn Decision Notifications are due to be sent to Authors on 15 November, when Advance Registration opens. We not only encourage all nurses and nurse informaticians to attend, but hope that many other colleagues will support this event. The IMIA Board will meet at NI2012. 3. Job adverts a] Faculty Position in Health Informatics at University of Waterloo, Canada - see http://wp.me/pvCUS-TJ The School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo is seeking an exceptional teacher and applied researcher for a tenure track position in health informatics. The closing date for applications is 05 December, 2011. Details are available at http://www.ahs.uwaterloo.ca/positionsavailable/ b] Biomedical Informatics positions at AstraZeneca - see http://wp.me/pvCUS-Un AstraZeneca is seeking to recruit to two posts: Biomedical Informatics Director – Real World Evidence and Biomedical Informatician – Real World Evidence. Details are available at http://astrazenecacareers.com c] Should IMIA carry more adverts for positions, or develop a 'job bank'. We are occasionally asked to publicise job adverts for positions in health and biomedical informatics. These are currently posted on the IMIA News site and are infrequent. We seek the views of IMIA members as to whether we should carry more of these (or not carry any), and whether a formal 'job bank' carrying more such adverts would be of value to members. Would you use the job bank if it were developed to advertise vacancies within your organisation? Would you pay to post vacancies? Would you use it to seek vacancies? 4. APAMI GA The APAMI General Assembly meeting (GA) is scheduled for 8 October (10:30-11:30) in Meeting Rms 14-15, 7/F, KITEC (Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre) 1 Trademart Drive, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
