If you are an official representative to IMIA, or administrative contact, of an IMIA Member Society, Institutional Member, WG/SIG, or any other category, please check your page on the IMIA website and provide any necessary information updates. It is especially important that we have correct contact details for representatives to the IMIA General Assembly, and to ensure the IMIA Yearbook is up to date.. Thank you to all members who have paid their IMIA membership fees for 2013. If you have not, we should be grateful if you would arrange payment as soon as possible. Invoices for 2014 fees will be sent within the next two months.
 

EFMI STC 2014 - Submission Deadlines 03 January

The submission deadline is very close for the EFMI Special Topic Conference (STC) 2014 - all submissions are due by 03 January, 2014. See http://www.stc2014.org for this and more information as it becomes available. Notification of review results is due by 20 February.

Registration is open, with early bird rate closing on 21 February.

The EFMI STC 2014 will be held at the Hotel Benczur, Budapest, Hungary on 26-29 April. The IMIA and EFMI Boards will be meeting at this event.
 


MIE2014 - Submission Deadlines 31 January for Papers and Posters

On behalf of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), the Turkish Medical Informatics Association (TurkMIA) will host the 25th European Medical Informatics Conference - MIE2014 - in Istanbul, Turkey on August 31st - September 3rd, 2014. The deadline for submissions of papers and posters is 31 January, 2014 -  and the submission deadline for workshops, panels, short communications, and tutorials is March 3, 2014.

We encourage all colleagues - especially, but not limited to, those within Europe - to submit to and participate in both of these EFMI events.


 
 

NI2014 - 12th International Congress of Nursing Informatics

NI 2014, the 12th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center (very near to Taipei 101) on June 21-25, 2014 - see http://wp.me/pvCUS-1IM and  http://www.ni2014.org

NI2014 We ask all IMIA Member Societies and other members, and nursing/informatics organisations, to promote this event, which is held under the auspices of the IMIA-NI SIG (Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group). The theme of the conference is "eSmart + " where "e" stands for eHealth, "S" implies simplicity, "m" represents mobility and meaningful use, "a" denotes advanced leadership, "r" indicates revolution, "t" means translational technologies, and "+" symbolizes People Leading uCare Safely. The acronym is also used to convey the idea of adopting smart technology to help health providers deliver higher quality care.

eHealth 2014 (Vienna, Austria) Conference: Submission Deadline 27 January

The Call for Participation is open for eHealth 2014: Health Informatics meets eHealth (8th annual conference). The event is organised by, among others, IMIA's Member Society in Austria, the Working Group Medical Informatics and eHealth of the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) and the Austrian Society for Biomedical Engineering (ÖGBMT) (http://iig.umit.at/akmi/akmi.htm). Conference dates: May 22-23, 2014. Location: Schloss Schönbrunn, Vienna, Austria.

Proceedings will be published with IOS Press, and submission and presentations are possible both in English and German.
 

International Symposium on Clinical and Translational Research Informatics - Melbourne, Australia

The Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre (HABIC) - http://www.healthinformatics.unimelb.edu.au - at The University of Melbourne, Australia is pleased to announce that on 27-28 March 2014, a joint symposium between BioGrid Australia and the University of Melbourne's Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre will be held at the Davis Auditorium, The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. Second International Conference on Big Data and Analytics in Healthcare - Singapore

The International Conference on Big Data and Analytics in Healthcare (BDAH 2014) - organised by the National University of Singapore, Centre for Health Informatics - provides a leading forum for researchers, healthcare administrators, care-providers, and policy makers to disseminate and share cutting-edge research and practice,  and gain insights into the challenges, opportunities, novel strategies, and analytic tools and techniques for dealing with big data in healthcare. The Call for Papers is open, with submissions due on 31 January (workshop proposals) and 14 February (papers). Full information is available at http://www.bdah.org The event will be held on 22-24 July, 2014 in Singapore.
 

ICIMTH, the International Conference on Informatics, Management and Technology in Healthcare - Athens, Greece

ICIMTH, the International Conference on Informatics, Management, and Technology in Healthcare, is organised by the University of Athens and the Greek Health Informatics Association, and supported by EFMI and IMIA. The 2014 event will  be held in Athens, Greece on 10-14 July, 2014. The submission deadline for full papers and posters is 24 March, 2014. For workshops, panels and tutorials, the deadline is 14 April, 2014. Updates From IMIA Journals - ACI and Methods

ACI Editor Prof. Chris Lehmann and publishers Schattauer are pleased to announce that the all papers from the first 13 issues of ACI (up to and including Vol 3, Issue 3, totaling almost 120 articles) are now free and openly available for download. They are available via the Journal Archive at www.aci-journal.org

The latest issue of Methods of Information in Medicine (Volume 52, Issue 6) contains several important freely available items for download. There is an Editorial titled "The World Health Assembly Resolutions on eHealth: eHealth in Support of Universal Health Coverage" authored by Najeeb Al-Shorbaji, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland (download). The other three free downloads are linked: a discussion paper titled "Biomedical Informatics: We are what we publish" (Elkin, Brown and Wright - download), which is introduced by an editorial (Beuscart: "Know thyself" - download), and followed by a commentary paper (Geissbuhler et al, with contributions from colleagues in Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, USA, Egypt, Argentina and Australia - download) which collates invited comments. Methods invites colleagues to continue the discussion in subsequent issues through letters to the editor.
 

Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) Programme Launched

Our colleagues in the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA), together with partners the Health Information Management Association of Australia, and the Australasian College of Health Informatics, have announced the launch of the  CHIA (Certified Health Informatician Australasia) programme. This has been developed to address the lack of formal recognition of health informatics knowledge and skills in Australia. The program has been developed with reference to global initiatives and competency standards by COACH, Canada's health informatics association, the American Medical Informatics Association and the International Medical Informatics Association. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together pattern recognition and healthcare researchers interested in healthcare analytics and applications of pattern recognition in this field. One of the keynote speakers will be Hillary Rodham Clinton, Former Secretary of State and Former U.S. Senator from New York. Registration is now open.
