Presentation Summary
In this meeting we will present and discuss state-of-art applications of multimedia remote communication technologies in personal security and health, such as software which allows people to reach out to others in their community by using audio/video/data connectivity tools and services, which require little or no formal training to operate, thus making it accessible to a very large part of the population in any community.
It can be used for a multitude of applications, the most popular being elderly people and patients using it to connect to their healthcare clinic through their care provider organisation for instant tele-consulting, emergency and tele-medicine applications. Other interesting and novel applications will be demonstrated, such as a next-generation personal alarm system (PAS, or tele-help), and a interactive app for the optimization of patient-led scheduling of encounters with physicians, dentists, laboratories, etc.
Presenter's Curriculum
Dr. Frans Hermes holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Biochemistry by the University of Groningen (1993) and a M.Sc. in the same areas by Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, Netherlands (1986). Currently he is Managing Director and owner of Spectator Video Technology, from Made, Netherlands, which is a private company specialised in the development of state-of-the-art video control and service centres for private as well as public operators, with a wide variety of applications in Security, Healthcare and Communication. Spectator Video is present in more than 30 countries worldwide, including Brazil and Colombia, in Latin America.
